Commissioners set public hearings for June 15

The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners set public hearings on an the FY21 Budget, Economic development Appropriation and 5310 Federal funding. The Board discussed these at its June Work Session and Budget Workshops.

Making public comments at the virtual Board of Commissioners meeting

Due to COVID-19, there will not be a meeting place where members of the public can be physically present. The Board of Commissioners' regular meeting will broadcast live at 6:30 p.m. on Cabarrus County Television, https://www.youtube.com/cabarr... and https://www.cabarruscounty.us/... You can also listen to the meeting by phone at 704-920-2023 using the pin 1234.

The following three sources will be available for input during the public hearing and for informal public comment:

2. Set up a video meeting with publiccomment@cabarruscounty.us by 5 p.m. on Thursday June 11.
3. Email comments to publiccomment@cabarruscounty.us by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 15 to be read at the meeting.
4. Because this is a virtual meeting, written comments may be submitted by 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16 for Board consideration.

Cabarrus County's FY21 Budget

The Cabarrus County Manager presented the proposed Cabarrus County Budget for Fiscal Year 2021 to the Board of Commissioners on Monday, June 1, 2020. A copy of the proposed budget is filed in the Clerk’s office and is available for inspection on the County’s website: Current Budget.

Budget workshop meetings are being held through virtual mean on June 2 and 4. A public hearing on the proposed budget is scheduled for Monday, June 15, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard). The Board or Commissioners Regular meeting on June 15th will also be held through virtual means. Citizens are invited to attend virtually and present written or oral comments. Adoption of the proposed budget is scheduled for June 15, 2020.

Economic Development Appropriation

Notice is hereby given that the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Monday, June 15, 2020, to receive public input on the proposed allocation of funds for the following economic development appropriation:

Organization: Cabarrus County Economic Development Corporation
FY 2020-2021 Recommended: $400,000
Services Provided:  
Purpose: Promotes economic development within Cabarrus County by recruiting new businesses and encouraging retention and expansion of existing businesses.
Purpose: Job retention, Increase in employment, and industry expansion & recruitment

The Board of Commissioners will consider this recommendation, and approval will include allocating the appropriation in conjunction with the adoption of the FY 2021 annual budget.


5310 Federal funding

This is to inform the public that a public hearing will be held on the proposed 5310 Federal Transportation Program Application to be submitted to the City of Concord North Carolina. The public hearing will be held on June 15, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners’ Meeting Room located on the second floor of the Cabarrus County Governmental Center, 65 Church Street S, Concord.

Those interested in attending the public hearing and needing both auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or a language translator should contact the ADA Coordinator at 704-920-2100 48 hours prior to the public meeting.

The Federal 5310 Grant Program provides operating assistance to coordinate existing transportation programs operating in the urbanized area of Cabarrus County as well as provides transportation options and services for the communities within this service area. These services are currently provided using Cabarrus County Transportation. Cabarrus County Transportation renders services.
